After a slight setback due to an ankle injury in the middle of the season, Zimbabwe basketball star, Vitalis Chikoko is back in his constant form for his French side Metropolitan 92.

The gifted centre continues to show his team what they were missing during his absence. After his impressive performance against Boulazac Dordogne  five days ago, Chikoko was once again instrumental when they played Champagne Reims Basket on Friday.

Champagne Chalons had last played Chikoko’s Metropolitan 92 in January. In the absence of Chikoko, Metropolitan 92 thumbed Reims 87-73. Reims who are fighting against relegation in the league put up a brave performance against a strong Metropolitan 92 on Friday.

The first quarter was a close contest and only one point separated the two teams. Metropolitan 92 then again dominated the second quarter winning 18-10. A much stronger Chalons Reims turned up for the third quarter fighting for the ball against Metropolitan 92, after the end of the third quarter the teams shared spoils 21-21.

Chalons Reims weren’t giving up yet and they pushed Metropolitan 92 to the block thumbing them 22-19 in the 4th quarter. The fourth-quarter win was not enough as Metropolitan 92 won 77-71. Chikoko contributed 17 points with 8 rebounds. Metropolitan 92 next game is against JL Bourg Basketball who won 101- 71 against Le Portel on Saturday.
