Cricket Namibia today announced the appointment of Francois van see Merwe as the new Namibia women’s cricket national head coach.

“Francois Van der Merwe is expected to help Namibia women’s cricket team to qualify for all major ICC tournaments and to develop the National players where they can get contracts in various T29 leagues all over the world.”

Merwe is a holder of a Level 3 Cricket South Africa coaching certificate. And has coached the Dragons women’s team in South Africa for close eight years winning right trophies in both 50 over and T20 formats.

North West Dragons women’s team are currently the South Africa National 50 over champions. He was also the coach of the South Africa National women’s academy at the high performance centre in Pretoria.

Francois is expected to focus on promoting girls and women’s cricket in all regions of Namibia. Putting structures in place to have a pipeline for all age groups to ultimately feed the women’s national team.
