Francistown, Botswana hosted the annual Peter’s Richard Invitational Pair. The annual tournament is regarded as a developmental tournament a testing ground for future national bowlers.

Zimbabwe send through four teams [two males and two female teams] to participate in the the tournament that has provided most bowlers from the SADC region the first foray on the International stage.

Seasoned bowlers were paired with up coming bowlers this done to give the latter some international experience. Iverson and Beck Zimbabwe bowlers managed to defend the country title playing a smart game of bowls. An easy going for the gents whose only tough game was against Namibian pair of Fouche and Peake winning the game 18-12 and finishing the tournament UNDEFEATED and winning the GOLD medal.

The ladies teams that had Stella Leander’s and Jan Ross finished on position two and brought home a Silver medal suffering their biggest defeat of the tournament to Botswana who were crowned as the women’s champions. A total of 7 men’s and 6 women’s teams took part in the tournament.
