Equate Africa Chess tournament which is one of the biggest and most sponsored junior chess tournament in the country ended with 60 teams from 20 schools participating in the tournament.
A four aside event for both boys and girls in the junior and senior categories. In the juniors girls section Usher Primary School team won the shield playing 5 games winning 4 and losing 1 collecting a total of 16,5 points. Ush Jnr came second with 13,0 points whilst Willenita ended with 11,0 points. 16 teams took part in the jnr girls open competition.
Junior boys open Willenita won all their games and had 14,5 points Gifford High second with 13,5 and Cyrene third with 13,0 points. Boys Snr Willenita also won the trophy, Mpopoma High settled for silver and Gifford High bronze.
Girls Snr Montrose Girls won all five games and collected 18,0 points, Wanezi Girls second with 14,5 points and Ush Snr third with 14,0 points. 15 girls team took part in the girls Snr open.
