Nidan ranked black belt karateka, NKF accredited judge and referee Marchelle de Jager was elected as the President of Namibia Karate Federation, becoming the first-ever lady to head the Federation as President.
The dojo style assistant instructor will replace Sensei Cornelius Dalton who had been President of the Federation for close to 7 years.
During her acceptance speech, Marchelle said she will make it her ultimate goal to focus on youth development, participation in national and international competitions as well as assist more senior athletes to compete in championship tournaments.
She vowed to involve more women and girls in the sport of karate not only on a participatory level but also on an upper level.
Meanwhile Namibia Karate Federation has announced that they will be releasing a new logo soon. This will be done to meet the global trends.
