Zimbabwe women’s national football team, Mighty Warriors, have been drawn against Eswatini in the first round of the 2022 CAF African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Mighty Warriors will start at home on June 7 2021 before traveling to Eswatini for the second leg on June 25.
The winner between Zimbabwe and Eswatini will face Angola or Botswana in the second round of the qualifiers. Second-round matches will be played between October 18 and 29.
Zimbabwe’s last appearance in the Total African Women Cup of Nations was in 2016. And the Mighty Warriors finished last in Group A. They later failed to qualify for the 2018 edition after they were defeated by Zambia in the last round qualifiers.
Zambia who denied us a chance to qualify for 2018 has been tasked with a tough first-round game against Malawi.
Namibia Brave Gladiators will play Tanzania whilst Botswana will face it out with Angola. South Africa Banyana Banyana will place Mozambique. Another exciting draw is that between Nigeria and Ghana. Unlike the previous editions of the competition where the best-ranked teams would receive a bye, all teams will participate in the qualifiers starting from the first round.
