29 years ago Grit Breuer from Germany set a new record of 49.42 sec at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

History is in the making after Christine Mboma from Namibia broke Breuer’s record. This happened in Lusaka, Zambia during the All-Comers Meet.

The final 400M women race Mboma was battling it out with seasoned sprinters like Beatrice Masilingi and Asimenye Simwaka. Mboma was quickly out of the blocks to leave the other competitors behind, intent on breaking a 29-year-old record.

Mboma powered forward at the start seizing control of the race and maintaining the momentum up until the 400m. It was only a matter of time before she broke the record since she is one of the most promising sprinters on the continent.
