St Stithians College successful hosted the second edition of the prestigious U-16 Basketball tournament that saw Zimbabwe St Georges College been crowned as Champions.

23 Southern Africa’s top schools basketball teams competing for honors in the tournament. St Georges College were draw in Pool C alongside Pretoria Boys,Kearsney,Jeppe High, Queen’s College and Redhill.

In Pool C St Georges won 4 and lost 1 winning [35-28 against Pretoria Boys] [ 46-08 against Queen’s College] [27-08 against Redhill] and [ 24-20 against Jeppe High] losing 27-36 to Kearsney

Final Pool C standing saw St Georges and Kearsney all on 9 points with 4 wins and 1 defeat both teams qualifying for the quarter finals. St Georges played host school St Stithians in the quarter finals and they defeated the host school 31-26 making it to the finals.

In the other quarter final game Kearsney defeated St Charles 32-20 making it more than a final for Zimbabwe St Georges who had lost a game to Kearsney in group stage Georges had settles to score. The first quarter of the final ended 15-5 to Kearsney who looked like they were clearly in control.

Second quarter ended 24-18 and this time around St Georges looked clueless come third quarter St Georges were threatening a time out was called in the third quarter and St Georges were 24-31 after the third quarter it was St Georges 29-31 Kearsney.

Final quarter of the game saw St Georges scoring 15 points and Kearsney only managing 11 points this making St Georges winners of the second edition of the St Stithians final score
