Surrey Storm Netball team players paid tribute to Zimbabwe Netball Gems team manager Ledwin Dondo during their game with Loughborough on Sunday.
The English netball team players wore a black armband during their with Loughborough. In a Twitter post, Surrey Storm Netball wrote ” The Surrey Storm players are wearing black armbands in memory of Zimbabwe’s Ledwin Dondo. Ledwin spent 17 years in charge of the Gems and was the Team Manager for their first-ever Netball World Cup in 2019. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
Several Zimbabwe netball players also celebrated the late team manager.
“You didn’t give us time to say goodbye and you promised me 2023 World Cup you will be there 😭😭 . So this Is it, you are gone, my prayer warrior, my mother, my coach, my team manager, and my friend. Zimbabwe Gems Netball team will never be the same. I’m forever grateful for everything you taught me. Go well my champion. Rest in peace team manager, we will surely miss you mother.” wrote Joice Takaidza
Former Zimbabwe Gems captain Perpetua Siachitema wrote
“Rest in peace mama Dondo, a God-fearing woman, a coach a friend, and a mother. Will forever miss you, mama. Zimbabwe netball will never be the same again without you. You have left a huge void in the netball fraternity. GO, WELL MUMMY.”
The remains of the late netball administrator were laid to rest this afternoon at Glen Forest Memorial Park.
