After battling several injuries over the last few years and marking her return from injury with an Olympic qualification time, South African 400m hurdle star Wenda Nel is eager to build on her return to form at the Florence Diamond league.

The 32-year old star is one of the three athletes expected to raise the South African flag high at the Florence Diamond league tomorrow. After she recently won her ninth national title the South African is hoping for a podium finish in Italy.

She however has to fight it off with Olympic silver medalist Sara Petersen and in form Dutch athlete Femke Bol who clocked a season opener of 54.33 in Hengelo last weekend in the 400m hurdle race.
