Following the certain suspension of all sporting activities in the country to curb the spiking of Covid-19 cases, the Sports and Recreation Commission has cleared Zimbabwe Cheetahs the green light to travel to France.
The national sevens rugby side will be participating in the World Sevens Olympic Games Repêchage tournament in Monaco this weekend. Ten national sevens teams will battle it out for a place to qualify for the Olympics.
Zimbabwe is in Pool A together with Mexico, Tonga, Ireland, and Samoa whilst Pool B has Uganda, Chile, Hong Kong, Jamaica, and hosts France. The top two teams from each pool progress through to the knockout stages culminating in the final with winners booking themselves a place at the Tokyo Olympics games.
The Cheetahs are set to depart for France this afternoon.
